Re: WHITTAKER: "Doctor Who Always Celebrated the White Male Gaze." - Is That True?

Stop trolling Jodie. I think there may be a missing comma here. Is that "Stop trolling Jodie!" - i.e. "Liz, stop being a troll regarding Jodie's perfectly valid viewpoint!", or "Stop trolling, Jodie!" - i .e. "Jodie, stop trolling classic fans!" ? (I suspect I already know the answer.) Yes, it’s no...

I'm tempted to say this topic is a load of old bollocks, but that would just be playing into her hands.
Seems like a game of let’s wind up the classic series fans. That’s been the aim for sometime now.

Stop trolling Jodie.

Re: Rewatch: The British Horror Film - Tigon Films

The Creeping Flesh is an eerie, interesting, but somewhat uneven film.

I sort of like the fact you are meant to make up your own mind about Peter Cushing’s character at the end.

Cushing and Lee are excellent was usual.

Right so I watched the cult of the Crimson Altar. It was alright up till the end. Good story that benefitted from actors like Christoopher Lee, but the ending just let it down.
Yeah a great cast let down by a crap ending.

Re: WHITTAKER: "Doctor Who Always Celebrated the White Male Gaze." - Is That True?

This all sounds like a Whiggish attempt to see history through the lens of present prejudices, or if you prefer, a Stalinist attempt to airbrush inconvenient facts from the past, similar to RTD's 2005 comments about 60s TV - "sheer spectacle was enough ... you never had any idea what the characters...

This was the press embargo.

At least it wasn’t about Chibs.

Re: Nominate Actors Who Could Have Played the Doctor OR the Master Equally Well

Julian Clary would have made a terrific Doctor or Master.

If you’re going to try and have a ‘token gay’ character you might as well have a real one.

Besides if it’s good enough for James Dreyfus, why not.

Re: Nominate Actors Who Could Have Played the Doctor OR the Master Equally Well

I really thought Su Pollard was once a chance to play the Doctor, but alas it wasn’t to be. She decided to do voices in Little Robots instead. As for the Master after Eric Roberts probably anyone could play him. I always thought they missed a golden opportunity not to give the role to Ann Widdecombe...

Re: Should the BBC Simply Retcon the Entire Whittaker/Chibs Era?

But that would leave Missy, the General etc. intact. Moffat introduced the whole thing. Chibnall is just the next (il)logical step. I don't know why some people don't like the idea of the Doctor regenerating into a female body, and changing gender identity with it, and yet have no problem with the ...

Re: Should the BBC Simply Retcon the Entire Whittaker/Chibs Era?

You can leave it all intact and retcon it. Next story, a MAN shows up, and us revealed to be the Master. The Doctress mentions Missy, and the Master doesn't have a clue what She is talking about. The Master then revelas that during the Time War, the Time Lords cloned many of their own people, as a ...

Re: Should the BBC Simply Retcon the Entire Whittaker/Chibs Era?

I don’t subscribe to this canon stuff (personally I prefer Epson) but I’d be quite happy for the last 30 minutes as broadcast to simple disappear forever and never be mentioned again.

If the same thing happened to Chibs I wouldn’t be unhappy either.

Well she must have watched Tennant and just decided to be a female version of him.

Pity she didn’t watch any at all really. That may have been better.

I’d probably only care if the Doctor became Scouse. That would be the end.
Scouse Doctor Who

Noooooooooo!

Do you reckon Phil’s spent too much time watching the three scousers and this skit in particular and now thinks he was born to play the Doctor?
