Re: WHAT BOOK ARE YOU READING.....??

VIETNAM: WHY WE SHOULD HAVE WON by Dan Lyons. Short book available as far as I know ONLY in audio form, written by someone who was there and lived through the events. Interesting and filled with information one does not get from the usual sources.

Re: THE FANTASTIC FOUR: Will They Ever Get It Right?

Save for a badly cast Sue Storm and a poorly written, Reed Richards and a completely bungled Doctor Doom....who was more Grey Gargoyle or Blastaar than Doom, I still though the 2005 came very VERY close to nailing it. The sequel with Galactus was wretched. I am not the only one to say this but it ne...

Re: Is STAR WARS Rubbish Now?

The problem with SW is that, unlike Who or Star Trek that can go in almost any direction, Star Wars was one story. And that story was over in 1983. Exactly. In a very real way, STAR WARS is the story of the Emperor Palpatine. Once he dies and the Empire is defeated, the story is over. Ditto with To...

Re: The Batman (2021)

Year One would be fine, but I do feel it's been touched on by Tim Burton's first one and Batman Begins. At least everything else was just doing more stories with the character having been established. Constant reboots get a bit wearing. Watching the 90s Animated Series gives me that feeling of the ...

Re: Taylor Swift vs Katy Perry

KATY PERRY: PRISMATIC WORLD TOUR LIVE. Filmed in Australia. VERY colorful and pretty to look at. Katy has real stage presence. Makes a veiled potshot at Taylor Swift. Swift's new video for ME steals shamelessly from this. Pleasant and diverting. Looks VERY nice on a big screen. Things have certainly...

Re: Last Doctor Who Audio You Listened To?

THE VENGEANCE OF MORBIUS......part 2 of a trilogy. Again guest staring Alexander Siddig---though wasted here, Kenneth Colley...likewise once Morbius returns. Pity Michael Spice is no longer with us. Would have been nice. Interesting to see just WHAT exactly Morbius was doing that got him in such hot...

Re: Game Of Thrones

I know people think this is the second coming but I consider it a cancer that has ruined almost all TV...genre and otherwise.......and the infection has not even reached terminal point yet......

Re: Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979)

The movie and first season were glorious fun. The second season?? The curse of STAR TREK set in and killed it dead. They realized their mistake and the last few eps....from THE SATYR onward go better and better but they had already alienated their core audience and no one was watching. Sounds like??...

Re: What's the last film you watched?

Anyway, after that I put on Ebirah, Horror of the Deep , a Godzilla film and pretty damn good one it was too. Full of adventure, fun, pacy, humourous. Really liked this one, kept me thoroughly entertained throughout unlike some of the other films in this series that sag a bit until Godzilla shows u...

Re: Last Doctor Who Audio You Listened To?

SISTERS OF THE FLAME. a McGann/Sheridan Smith story.......part 1 of a three parter. Guest stars are Alexander Siddig and Kenneth Colley-------which is pretty amazing big guns to get for an audio drama. The Doctor and Lucie Miller run afoul of a galactic zillionaire who is the worst type of fanboy fo...

Re: The Mind of Evil

Ep 2. Probably the most "Spy" of the series. Save for the Keller machine at the very beginning...nothing happens here that could not happen in an ep of THE MAN FROM UNCLE. 1) Nice reference to INFERNO. I like when the Doctor acknowledges previous adventures. 2) Monster at the end. I assume...

Re: Documentaries

SPY IN THE SKY (1996) Narrated by Roy Scheider. During the 1950s, President Dwight Eisenhower desperately needed to know the military capabilities of Communist Russia to A) prevent a sneak attack and B) to forestall an acceleration of the arms race. However since the Soviet Union was pathologically ...

Re: Avengers: Endgame (2019)

( I don't find most of the 'replacement' characters coming in terribly appealing, to be honest.) From what I am hearing they are making the suicidal mistake of going Diversity Cast. Besides the odious Captain Marvel, I am hearing sex change Thor, all female Avengers etc etc etc. Probably Black teena...

Re: SUPERGIRL

The problem with Supergirl is she is.......and always has been a completely unnecessary character. She is just Superman in a dress only less interesting. She has no worthy villains to speak of. Could never carry her own title. Is not THAT pretty so no gratuitous T and A. The only reason the TV show ...

Re: Avengers: Endgame (2019)

People are.......fill in the blank. THIS was a major problem for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. i remember a newscaster(female) giddily giving away the shock ending on TV the Thursday before its release. There are people so driven to fury over the success of the Marvel films that they think they are strik...

Re: Positive Female roles in Sci-fi and Fantasy...

You see THIS drives me utterly crazy. You can ONLY make the argument that women have been oppressesed/underrepresented in genre IF you obliterate the entire history of women IN genre before a chosen date. In effect BY oppressing and under representing them. Pearl White. Jane Parker. Fah Lo Suee, Kar...

Re: Arrow (2012)

I only saw this when he guested on seasons 1 and 2 of THE FLASH and nothing really interested me...........though it should be said that I always thought the print Oliver Queen to be a major.....place appropriate obscenity here. Never understood what the Black Canary saw in him.

Re: BATMAN

ETERNAL YOUTH...a disturbing as hell Poison Ivy story. A kid's show? Then why is it better than most "adult" versions??

And Diane Pershing does not get nearly enough praise. Better than Uma Thurman!!!
