Re: Star Trek Continues

And we need a thumbs up emoticon.

I'm doing that with The Thick Of It and also Star Trek Continues, which for a fan made web series is outstanding.

Re: New Doctor announced on Sunday

The worst thing about this decision is that they can never again cast a man.

The only way we will ever get a male Doctor again is if Whittaker and Chibnall make such a f*ck up, it gets "rested" for abit and comes back with a chap. Probably a black guy, just because.

Re: New Doctor announced on Sunday

Hate the idea, as it's PC box ticking of the worst kind, but I'm not going to harp on about it or post bollocks about the actress or show runner. I did, however, suggest that all those fans trying to think of a nickname for Chibnall along the lines of Moff or RTD should just call him Chris c*nt and ...

Re: Rate "The Doctor Falls"

how does it sit with our current knowledge of Mondas. The hyper evolution of Mondasian into Telosian cybermen. Was expecting a revelation of how the Master twisted the development. Maybe I need to think less about it.......... All you need to do to make sense of NuWho with regard to reconciling wha...

Re: Rate "The Eaters of Light"

Terrible stuff. First half of the season - really pretty good Second half - Unutterable sh*te EDIT - Unless a curve ball is pitched our way, and with this awful show runner's addiction to timey wimey nonsense it is likely I guess, it seems fairly clear that Missy is not the Master, but has been used...

Re: Rate "The Empress of Mars"

Complete rubbish. When the best thing about it is the most irritating thing in the dross that was the Peladon double header, you are in trouble.

Re: Transferring VHS Tapes to DVD...

You'll be lucky if a DVD-R lasts anywhere near as long as a video tape. They just don't last. I had hundreds of burned DVD-R once upon a time and none of them lasted more than two years. Burned DVDs are rubbish.

Re: Rate "Extremis"

Utter dog sh*t, the worst episode of the current series, which has been very good up to now. I'm afraid the rest of the series sounds like it's going to follow this pattern as Moffat has said the first half was going to be traditional (ie simple story telling with logic and a point) and then they we...

Re: Rate "Oxygen"

But an empty suit was working in the facility when the TARDIS crew arrived. If the suits could walk around on their own, lift things and carry stuff about and load or unload things, as that suit was, and have some degree of AI, why would you need people at all? It's bollocks.

Re: Rate "Oxygen"

Worst episode of the current run for me. Ham fisted writing, story went nowhere. Performances were fine it was just a bit cack handed. How did not go anywhere? Everything made sense. Charging a fee for oxygen for workers who weren't needed anyway makes sense? It does if the humans cost less than th...

Re: Rate "Knock Knock"

Thought this was pretty good, actually, certainly miles better than last week's abomination. A solid horror episode with David Suchet giving good villain, spoiled only by the utterly unnecessary "bring everyone back to life" ending. FGS New Who, you finally have an episode with som...

Re: Rate "Thin Ice"

I'm not a great fan of NuWho, and had stopped watching it last year, but this episode has some moments in it that are simply stunning. Pearl Mackie… what a genuine actress she is. So real in the part, unlike so many of those who went before her. Capaldi is showing how fantastic he is, when he's not ...

Re: What are you reading?

I hope to be reading the Robert Banks Stewart book from Miwk tomorrow. Their books are marvellous works, so much love goes into the product.

I'll be popping into The Works to pick up Davison's autobiography tomorrow as well. I'm not keen on Davo, but it's only £6.
