Re: Sapphire and Steel (Rewatch)

Well during our enforced hiatus I watched the first three episodes of Assignment 5.

It’s not the same show is it? What with Sapphire’s bed innuendo and Steel being almost charming and certainly not in the slightest bit abrasive.

Thought I was watching a completely different show there for a while.

Fair dinkum it should be essential listening for all you flamin’ kids.

Thanks to donations from members I've been able to move Planet Mondas to a faster server. But I'm still working on further improvements. Ad Revenue covers the server fees, but not my time, so if you like you can buy me a coffee, which will help fuel me! Thanks in advance! Mat Sadler (matjkd)

Finished Assignment 5.

Well I didn’t hate it, Sapphire and Steel didn’t really act they they normally do, which was a bit distracting. At times Steel was almost charming.

Dr McDee’s demise was incredibly convoluted and I was almost shouting ‘ffs die you bugger, die” at the screen.

Probably the least of the Assignments I think.

Only another four eps and you will have finished! Four rather good eps, I reckon. Unless you wanna be hardcore and do all the Big Finish stuff :)

I think there were a few comic strips about as well

Didn't bother buying any of the Big Finish stuff - Lumley and McCallum *are* Sapphire & Steel, however good David Warner is.

I can recommend some of the fan fiction here:

"It's basically a cure... for not being an axe-wielding homicidal maniac... the potential market's enormous!"

"Please dial *617 at this time"

The last assignment was my introduction to the series all those years ago. :D

I’ve finished it all now.

Nice cliffhanger ending and whilst it wasn’t intended to be the last story it seems somewhat fitting it ended that way.

Assignment 5 was the least of them and even it isn’t that bad.

I’d rate them 2,6,4,1,3 &5.

I've finished Assignment 1. I've always loved this one. It scared the crap out of me as a kid when it was first shown, and I still feel it's pretty spooky. I like the introduction of Lead, and I think he works very well with Steel, polar opposites and all that. For me, this one is pretty much perfect.

I'm not looking forward to watching 2. I've always been of the opinion that it was the sloppiest written and most padded of the bunch, and consequently it's always been my least favourite. Perhaps my rewatch will change my mind, but I have my doubts.
