Thanks to donations from members I've been able to move Planet Mondas to a faster server. But I'm still working on further improvements. Ad Revenue covers the server fees, but not my time, so if you like you can buy me a coffee, which will help fuel me! Thanks in advance! Mat Sadler (matjkd)

Anyhoo, dragging this baby back on topic which season do we thinkmis the next to get the bluray treatment and when do we think we’ll get it?

As part of the answer to that do we think the Americans will do Little Stevie proud and buy the set in droves?

I guess we could all just watch something else instead. :P
(Doctor Who) has been hijacked and redefined as a lucrative modern franchise. They've literally taken a square peg and painfully made it fit a round hole by taking enormous liberties with much of its fundamental essence. There's no turning back now.

It should, of course, be Season 13, which not only contains some of the best serials in the show's history, but also has direct continuity from the preceding story and shows us where Harry went.
But it won't be, because instead we have to have random order releases

Well of course it should be, but as you say it will be random seasons.

I'm not sure why it "should" be, since, technically, the releases "should" have started with Hartnell season 1. It seems perfectly fair to me, to ensure fans of all eras get a release earlier than might otherwise be the case.

To maximise sales of course and keep Stevie R happy.

I’m looking forward to the Complete Season 4 for all the Troughton fans.

Consisting of the Power animation and six other episodes. :D

I would prefer a Pertwee season on Blu-ray next. Season 11.

It could feature a fully colourised 'Invasion of the Dinosaurs' episode 1 and would lead in nicely to season 12.

Season 1, I say! With an animated Marco Polo (or, if they really are that tight, the existing Ian-Chesterton-narrated audio of all 7 eps, and the greatly abridged photo-reconstruction they did). They've already animated the missing eps of Reign of Terror and apart from that, it all exists.

Season 1 is where it all starts, there's some smashing stories (with plot points that are referred to again and again in later seasons, right up to the present day),
the ropey black-and-white 405-line > film telerecordings will really benefit a lot from BluRay's better codec
(and, indeed, 405 line into 1080i goes better and less jaggedly than into 576i - so again, the pro-quality upscale authoring onto BluRay will work a lot better than two upscales, 405 > 576i on DVD, and then your player or telly upscaling it again to 1080i on the fly)

Also, some of the documentaries for that season are superb, worthy of being broadcast on BBC4 I'd say (about the show's initial commissioning, and the radiophonic workshop)

I's say do season 25 or 26. Still footage from that era not released and they could do the extended Silver Nemesis

A bog at some of the optional jazzed up effects for Revenge then.

Not to be a negative nancy, but the original looks much superior to me. There will always be a certain falseness with CGI, something only exacerbated by being retroactively shoehorned into a show from the 70s. Rather than increasing immersion, the new effects actually have the opposite...effect. Although I think some of the other updated effects on previous DVDs have been very good, I’m disappointed by these ones to be honest :(

making Silver Nemesis longer only means MORE AWFUL CRAP

What I would like them to do for the McCoy Season 24-25-26 BluRay box set is get the original CGI animation code for the title sequence and re-render it in HD. That would please me.

I maintain that the only bit of CGI on the entire Dr Who DVD range that isn't COMPLETELY AHINE was the flying saucer in Dalek Invasion of Earth.

Good news and bad news for Australian and New Zealand Classic Series fans.

First the bad new. The Series 12 bluray has been pushed back a week and is now set for release in the 4 July (no real surprise there).

The good news is that my moaning has sprung BBCWW into action and the Enemy SE is now slated for release on the 8 August,

Perhaps more than just me did some moaning! :D

Oh well, that's alright then.

In shock news, the repackaged New Who Master set actually has Terror of the Autons in it, so not just repackaged new who, repackaged classic too!. Didn't see that coming. :P

They all have.

The Dalek one has Genesis (yes, buy it on DVD when you can have it on bluray two months later), the Cybermen one has Earthshock.

Don’t know what the Weeping Angels one has and I don’t really care.

Don't think classic who has any weeping, do they'll just have to use Dodo blowing her nose in 'The Ark' ;)

It might have 'The Daemons' included as Bok, the stone gargoyle, might be related to a Weeping Angel if Nu Who could rewrite the history of the show.

Oh, hang on...
