Doctor Who - The Collection - Season 26

Postby darnall42 » Tue Sep 03, 2019 8:15 am

Product Description

Season 26 features four epic adventures traversing a future Britain invaded by inter-dimensional knights, a strange Victorian house haunted by ghosts from Ace’s past, an alien world populated by Cheetah People and a 1940s army camp under siege from monstrous vampires.

With guest stars including Nicholas Courtney (Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart), Anthony Ainley (The Master), Jean Marsh, Nicholas Parsons, Anne Reid, Ian Hogg, Sylvia Syms and comedy duo Hale & Pace, this fondly-remembered set of stories saw the end of an era for Doctor Who, and set the stage for its hugely successful revival.

Thanks to donations from members I've been able to move Planet Mondas to a faster server. But I'm still working on further improvements. Ad Revenue covers the server fees, but not my time, so if you like you can buy me a coffee, which will help fuel me! Thanks in advance! Mat Sadler (matjkd)

Good to see it’s finally been announced. Very late Christmas purchase I guess.

(Doctor Who) has been hijacked and redefined as a lucrative modern franchise. They've literally taken a square peg and painfully made it fit a round hole by taking enormous liberties with much of its fundamental essence. There's no turning back now.

They'd probably do better to remove Hale & Pace from the marketing

I'm confused. What was the difference between the VHS extended version and the dvd special edition? I thought the 2nd disc of The Curse Of Fenric dvd release contained the extended version.

Terrible season. Terrible writing, apart from 'The Curse of Fenric'. The feature on JN-T may be okay. £39.99 for 14 episodes.

Surely all of the McCoy episodes could have been included in one boxset?

Shame there is no extended Survival on this, otherwise a good set.

Nice to see 5.1 on all the stories.

Although I do think Seasons 24 to 26 should just be a single boxset. They were only half the episode count of 70s seasons.

A shame they don't still have the code for the original CGI credits - re-rendering those in HD would've been nice.

I am only buying the Pertwee box sets. Not wasting my cash on the rest but his interests me. The extended versions. Is there quite a bit of material they can use or is it only a few minutes ?

Well, ain't that a shock. Which teaches us all to never listen to the BBC or Amazon in the first place, but to listen to Whoscarf3, who predicted mid-January a few months back, lol.
