Thanks to donations from members I've been able to move Planet Mondas to a faster server. But I'm still working on further improvements. Ad Revenue covers the server fees, but not my time, so if you like you can buy me a coffee, which will help fuel me! Thanks in advance! Mat Sadler (matjkd)

What's with the table references?

I am looking forward to it, the 80s were a funny time for DrWho, and Jnt was larger than life, a decade at the helm....

Fair play to the guy, it does indeed make a difference.

Why scandalous times? Iran Contra? Westlands? Harvey Proctor?

ITV are doing the Jimmy Savile hatchet job soon.

Yes, any scurrilous rumour or bare-faced lie can be presented as fact risk-free once someone is dead.

So Mike, the Jimmy Saville scandal is a lie is it?

So Co-ordinator, the ITV program was a hatchet job?

Scandalous times indeed, the era of the 1980's at the BBC. Of course JNT was above it all, wasn't he? ;)

It was a poorly made programme, including people whose stories haven't stood up to the merest hnt of scrutiny.

I'm sure they'll fix it.

I'm not sold. Infact I think John's influence and impact on the show is best forgotten, either way.

That's a little unfair Tanlee. The JN-T was mixed it's true, but there was some very good stuff in there. Some stories in Tom Baker's final season were very good. What about Earthshock and the new Cyberman design, a real triumph. The Five Doctor is a gem. Terry Molloy's Davros... Colin Baker was a great Doctor (don't mention the cozzie though)... Sophie Aldred as Ace. Yes there's bad stuff, but some good stuff in there as well.

Now I know some of you had misgivings about this book due to the title, but a draft of this book has been read by respected, impartial 'Who writer, Andrew Pixley. Here's what he said about it:-

This is one of the very best books I've ever read. And I don't mean "Doctor Who" books but books in general, and biographies in particular.

Overall, the text paints an extremely vivid picture of a very complex man. It demonstrates clearly the many facets of his character and does so in a potent but balanced manner. I suspect that a lot of people who knew John will gain an even greater understanding of the kind of person he was capable of being from reading this superb analysis and summation of his life.

This is a massive skillful and talented piece of work.

I've copied this from Gallifrey Base, as I know some of you don't visit there. I've ordered mine, anyone else getting it?
