Thanks to donations from members I've been able to move Planet Mondas to a faster server. But I'm still working on further improvements. Ad Revenue covers the server fees, but not my time, so if you like you can buy me a coffee, which will help fuel me! Thanks in advance! Mat Sadler (matjkd)

Desperation setting in already? :D
(Doctor Who) has been hijacked and redefined as a lucrative modern franchise. They've literally taken a square peg and painfully made it fit a round hole by taking enormous liberties with much of its fundamental essence. There's no turning back now.

More like they're just giving people curious about the TARDIS reveal this week a hook to buy the next issue.

Episode 6

"It can become a kind of franchise where it's not a real character at all, but just an amalgam of elements that people think are Doctor Who: a scarf, a bow tie... I wanted to be the actual Doctor Who." - Peter Capaldi

Any more details on the Writer's Room that were said to be involved in this series? Are we going to find out when it's all finished? Because from the two episodes it seems if there is a Writer's Room they are working overtime to keep the scripts in the middle of the road!

So is episode 6 the first on Chiball didn't have a writing credit for? He's been busy!

Ooh, I'd forgotten about the writers' room! That was mentioned way back - has it been ditched? Going on past form I'd say it's a (potentially) good idea.

It was one of the things I was looking forward to. But so far not saw any evidence it's been utilised.

Or capitalising on the success? It’s doing well. People are talking about it again. Dr Who’s back and it’s better than it’s been for ages. Yay.

"Cosmic racist" it's going to be a bizarre episode. Not even going to think about it until I see, but not sure I can make supplies last until Sunday!
If the N word appears in the episode I'll be pissed off, yeah accuracy but it'd mean the show is no longer the escape from that language or behaviour.
I don't know how to react except "Seriously?" to the first two letters of this post. (Probably as much as you think every time I make a post!)

that sounds absolutely awful...trying to science fictionalise a momentus event in the civil rights movement merely trivializes things....

what next??

our plucky time travellers land in 1984 during the miners strike to discover that the miners have been taken over by a leech like creature intent on spreading Red herring

they then travel to new york to divert a jumbo jet hijacked by evil aliens intent on crashing it into twin towers...

zapped back to ww2 they must discover the secret of the giant ovens and their part in fuelling a stranded spaceship.....

Nicely put, and I agree. The classic series tended to ban events too close in history, which I think could reasonably be taken as "within living memory". I guess no one would mind if Napoleon was taken over by aliens or something...

(Red Dwarf did it best with the JFK assassination....but that was intentional comedy.)

I do hope this series doesn't crash and burn after that promising start ... come on, Chibnall, get your finger out! It's supposed to IMPROVE after the first episode. :x

Radio Times mini-review thingy for Rosa:

It's an odd episode, co-written by Malorie Blackman and Chris Chibnall, that's preachy and teachy, giving itself the hard task of explaining segregation, racism and the Montgomery bus boycott to a young audience. So it loses its way as a bit of teatime fun and becomes more of a lecture."
