I'm appalled at the title.

Thanks to donations from members I've been able to move Planet Mondas to a faster server. But I'm still working on further improvements. Ad Revenue covers the server fees, but not my time, so if you like you can buy me a coffee, which will help fuel me! Thanks in advance! Mat Sadler (matjkd)

I felt a bit like that about DWM's recent "Trial of JNT" article but this is far worse.
My next door neighbour mixed up her KY jelly with the superglue. I asked her how she managed that but her lips are sealed.

It's a horrible title and hints at a very unfortunate tone.

I thought it wasn't going to be scandalous and Ian Levine had got it all wrong?

The title suggests it's nothing more than a cynical money-making exercise to me.

already pre-ordered. :D

do you want the truth chaps, or not? personally i do. besides did you read the product description? it describes an even-handed, thorough account that presents the truth as the writer found it.

true, the title is a maketing one, but don't let that make you think it's a one-sided, spiteful book. i'm certain it's not!

Knowing Richard (and having helped him with aspects of the book), I think it'll be anything but. He's put a huge amount of effort into researching John's life and I've every faith that it'll be a very fair and balanced look at his career.

There's no getting away though from the fact that John was a *very* colourful character and he could be both wonderfully charming and murderously arrogant when he wanted to be. I certainly wouldn't be interested in reading a biography that sanitised his life.

What makes you think that any of us are entitled to know "the truth" about John or anyone else? People are entitled to a private life and not to have their privacy invaded by someone wanting to make a fast buck.

I know what John was like, I met him enough times. Does the book go into his private life, including his love/sex life?

Well, what do you define a biography as??
if it's not libellous, and people involved are willing to talk, then yes, print it and let's read it.

just remember, it seems that JNT had difficulty himself, separating his private life from his work. so to tell one story is to tell the other. without doing so will prevent a full understanding of Dr Who in the 1980's. :D

anyway Mike, and Rob, got your order in yet? ;)

Maybe someone should write a book about him.

Ian Levine isn't exactly the tastiest corn on the cob.

You can't libel the dead.

That's why ITV are doing the Jimmy Savile hatchet job soon.

Yes, any scurrilous rumour or bare-faced lie can be presented as fact risk-free once someone is dead.
