Thanks to donations from members I've been able to move Planet Mondas to a faster server. But I'm still working on further improvements. Ad Revenue covers the server fees, but not my time, so if you like you can buy me a coffee, which will help fuel me! Thanks in advance! Mat Sadler (matjkd)

Unless they're going to go back to making them fun, escapist romps again and get rid of the tedious forced "realism" of the Craig era, I couldn't care less.
(Doctor Who) has been hijacked and redefined as a lucrative modern franchise. They've literally taken a square peg and painfully made it fit a round hole by taking enormous liberties with much of its fundamental essence. There's no turning back now.

The last one I really rated or enjoyed was THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS. Maybe GOLDENEYE.

Maybe the series has just naturally run out of steam. A franchise from another era being artificially kept alive, just for the cash? :(

I liked both Casino Royale and Skyfall. I'd rate them the best Bond films since Licence to Kill.

Quantum of Solace was bland though, and Spectre was stupid, irritating, and dull, which is a deadly combination. I don't hold up much hope for the upcoming film.

Am not sure about Claes entirely.

Would be nice to have him as a Bond villain though; second Dracula actor in a row!

Inevitably some are pushing for this (including former Bond girl Madeline Smith, who thinks an actress would bring "sensitivity" to the role. :? )

"Doctor Who used to be a man" says the presenters in defence of the idea of gender-changing Bond. :death:

Bond shouldn't be a woman, because the character as created is male. Again, the SJWs want to take an established character and ruin it to fit their agenda, because they haven't got the creativity or talent to create their own.

Looking to find some clips of Norton acting, but here he (briefly) is showing whether he can play a dangerous character!

He's a good choice though.

Surely they won't have the sense to actually go with him? :?

I think the safest choice would be Henry Cavil. He's got the looks, plus the action-man credentials, and he showed a certain amount of charm and humour in The Man From UNCLE. I wasn't always convinced he had much in the way of acting chops, but his recent turns in MI:6 Fallout and The Witcher have made me think he might be okay. He's certainly not the most exciting actor, or the most exciting choice, but I think if I was in charge of the franchise and wanted a sure-thing, he'd be my go-to guy. If the next Bond film gets made in the next couple of years (looking doubtful now).

Who I'd like to see in the role: I'd be really interested in seeing Dan Stevens, who got my attention in The Guest, kept it throughout the Marvel TV series Legion, and was a wonderfully manky antihero in Apostle. He'd be a interesting choice because he's got a great deal of range as an actor, far more than Cavil, imo, but he's a lot less tough-looking. I suspect range really isn't needed for the role, which is why if I was in charge of the franchise I probably wouldn't risk him, but I'd love to see what he'd be like in the role. But again, the next 007 film would have to start rolling soon before he ages out of the window.

Who the hardcore Bond fans would like to see as the next Bond: Aidan Turner seems to the favourite at the MI 6 Community forum. Mainly it seems to be because the BBC's And Then There Were None adaptation seemed deliberately to make his role an audition tape for Bond. His Ross Poldark always seemed a bit wimpy compared to Robin Ellis' 70's rendition which I grew up with, so I don't know. I like him, but I don't know.

Who I think it will be: Nicholas Hoult. I find it difficult to visualise, but I hear he's the new villain in the next Mission Impossible film, so I'm guessing he's moving to a tougher look, and he's got youth on his side. I've heard him mentioned in connection to the role recently, and I'm guessing most candidates will have aged out by the time Eon are ready to shoot a new installment.

Anyone else want to share their views on who they'd like to see in the role?
