One of the most exciting projects planned by the BBC to celebrate the fifitieth anniversary of the best programme on television (or Doctor Who, as some people refer to it) is a docu-drama written by actor and scribe Mark Gatiss, titled An Adventure in Space and Time.
It seems that all the major roles have now been cast:
WILLIAM HARTNELL…David Bradley
VERITY LAMBERT… Jessica Raine
SYDNEY NEWMAN… Brian Cox
WARIS HUSSEIN… Sacha Dhawan
WILLIAM RUSSELL… Jamie Glover
JACQUELINE HILL… Jemma Powell
CAROLE ANN FORD… Claudia Grant
It has been confirmed by hisĀ management company that original cast member William Russell will also appear in the programme as a character called “Harry”.
William Russell played Ian Chesterton in the very first televised episode, An Unearthly Child, on the 23rd November 1963, and left the series at the end of The Chase, in June 1965.
Carole and Bill get up to their usual ant-ics on the set of Planet of Giants, 1964.
Now what we’d really like to see is an appearance by another original cast member Carole Ann Ford who played Susan, the First Doctor’s granddaughter.
