Re: Fifty Shades of Dalek

Is this the revamp for Victor Lewis Smith's Gay Daleks?

Joking aside, I can honestly see this... thing in the next season.

Re: Who Actors spotted in other TV or Films...

Hurray! I've reached the colour episodes of Special Branch, so apart from the sublime Fulton McKay, I've spotted George Pravda and John Bryans (he's in Creature from the Pit, but I always think of him as Councillor Berkol and Shrinker from Blake's 7). Oh, there was also the bloke who was Bob Hall in...

Re: Special Branch

I'm working my way through the first season - it's just gone into colour and Mr McKay has arrived. Some are weaker than others but it's of it's time, with some decent actors and good characters (Morris Perry is sublime as the slimy Moxon). It's production pedigree is good - George Markstein (The Pri...

Re: Who Actors spotted in other TV or Films...

Another three Special Branch episodes and several more faces have popped up - John Levene and Tom Chadbon in A New Face, Clive Merrison in You Don't Exist and Jon Abineri and Tony Caunter in The Children of Delight.

Re: Who Actors spotted in other TV or Films...

Plodding through Special Branch further, we've had Geoffrey Bayldon and Frank Windsor (The Promised Land), Micheal Keating (A Date with Leonidas) and John Bailey and Edward Burnham (The Kazamirov Affair). The latter also had a young Ray Smith (Spikings from Dempsey & Makepeace). The title music is o...

Re: Who Actors spotted in other TV or Films...

Just watched the second episode of Special Branch. Apparently the police commander in the first season of Special Branch was in Terror of the Autons. He's the timelord who meets the Doctor at the research station. Morris Perry is a delight to watch as the slimy and slippery Moxon, whereas Derren Nes...

Re: What's The Last TV Show You Watched?

First episode of the original series of Special Branch. Bit slow and creaky, but production and writing has a first class pedigree - George Markstein as creator/script editor and Reginald Collin as producer and he'd produced Callan. Sadly, not quite as good but you've got Morris Perry as the slimy M...

Re: SPOTTING PATRICK TROUGHTON: In Other Films & Shows

IIRC, that's the one with Gareth Thomas in it as a dissident. He's also the evil sod who has George Carter's wife killed in The Sweeney, although it's a case of mistaken identity as he was really wanting Kassia from Keeper of Traken killed. Best line? Telling Lionel from Brushstrokes "You're all bun...

Re: THE DAVROS DILEMMA: One Life or Millions?

First of all, it's a big assumption that the child called Davros is the creature the Doctor encounters. If it's indeed the same person, then the Doctor *has* to save him, otherwise time is fubared, because the existence of the Daleks is now hardwired into time, especially due to all the wars. If it'...

Re: Who Actors spotted in other TV or Films...

Nightmare Man's good, been a long time since I've seen it though. Caught the end of an episode of Law and Order: UK, largely on hearing the unmistakable tones of Paul Darrow as a judge, with Freema Ageyman and also Colin Salmond. Kevin McNally was the guy in the dock. I would have mentioned Bradley ...

Re: Chibnall or Moffat, who was the better showrunner?

The ironic thing is, when Chibnal writes for adults his work can be superb - episode 7 of Life on Mars (suspect dies in custody due to police brutality which is then covered up) was outstanding and possibly the strongest episode of the series - yet his work for Who has been dull juvenile sh*te! And ...

Re: Chibnall or Moffat, who was the better showrunner?

It's a bit like a choice between a kick in the clems or a punch in the face. Or asking who was the better humanitarian - Hitler or Stalin, Fred West or Harold Shipman. I voted Moffat, largely as I flatly refused to watch Who past Capaldi and when the Moff puts his mind to it, he can write outstandin...

Re: If Delgado had lived?

There's an excellent timeline on Alternatehistory.com whereby Delgado gets the Pertwee gig due to Phil Silvers throwing a wobbly. https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/phil-wont-leave-his-room-a-doctor-who-production-history.484784/ The whole thing butterflies away the Turkish film ad thus ...

Paul Cornell thought so too, as there's a few lines in his Timewyrm book that the face of the UK's Big Brother fascist dictator is one of the faces the Timelords offered him at his trial.

Re: Anthony Horowitz To Be the New Showrunner?

It's way too late - it's a bit like arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic after the stern section has broken off and is nearing vertical before the death plunge. Moffat started with pandering to the BBC's PC brigade craven desire to accede to the Stephen James Walker wishes and Chilblain's only c...

Re: B7 - Rumours of Death

Has anyone read Paul Darrow's novel, Avon - A terrible Aspect? It's worth reading the review here: http://www.hermit.org/b7/Merchant/Books/AvonTerrible.html So Avon is raised by Anna and Del's father when his mother dies? That's... nothing like what we get in the TV series! I have a PDF if an...

Re: Who Actors spotted in other TV or Films...

Others spotted in my Sweeney rewatch: Colin Jeavons, Richard Wilson, Edward Peel, George Sewell and Geoffrey Palmer. Oh, and one I watched last night had Linda Marshall in it, looking very hot. You may not recognise the name but she later became a writer, after appearing in a few episodes of The Gen...

Re: What's The Last TV Show You Watched?

The guy who took over from Taggart - don't remember his character or actor name as I never followed the series - was a villain in a Sweeney episode called "Hard Men", regarded as one of the best episodes of the series. It's an uncomfortable watch, it's quite brutal and both leads are fairly dislikab...

Re: Who Actors spotted in other TV or Films...

More Who faces lurking amongst the villains in The Sweeney. Today I've started series 4 and we've had Micheal Melia, Derek Martin (he's part of HAVOC and an uncredited soldier in The Claws of Axos, but he's best known as Charlie Slater in Eastenders) and Janet Ellis.
