Re: SERIES 12 SPOILERS

The episode has apparently been done filming for months now And there were reports last year that Jodie had filmed something extra for it and that there were five pages of script that were added to the episode on that specific date she filmed it. Why are people forgetting this happened? Because I c...

Re: SERIES 12 SPOILERS

It's great that Eccleston will be doing some Big Finish, but that's definitely not the same as Jodie regenerating at Christmas. It wouldn't make sense to announce Jodie was leaving at Christmas...all speculators have indicated Chibnall is going to pull that one off as a 'shock' to the viewer and th...

Re: SERIES 12 SPOILERS

Doctor Who has also been renewed for 2 more seasons, on top of the current one that is in production. Same cast and crew. https://twitter.com/Vullein/status/1289916167578980352 There's a very minor error in the rest of the tweet...where they say Warnermedia is buying out Bad Wolf Productions and th...

The first three minutes of this Comic-Con International panel is sadly rather amusing:
That was hilarious. It's like Chibnall's 1986 "it could have been slightly better written" moment mirrored back upon him.

Re: What Would it Take for You Switch On to Doctor Who?

If the writing is good, the viewers will come back. Doctor Who is a big enough franchise that word of mouth will spread quickly. Look at the huge numbers at the start of Series 11. People were interested in seeing how good the show was going to be once Moffat had departed. The problem, of course, is...

Re: "THASMIN": A Good Idea?

I thought it was a bad idea when RTD tried it with Ten and Rose and I have less confidence in Chibnall as a writer than I did with RTD. So, no thanks.

Re: Where should a classic series fan start with the new series?

Can anyone provide some recommendations on where to start with the new series if you're a "classic series only" fan? I'm definitely a "classic series" type of guy (I'd have to call the third doctor my favorite), so when I first learned of the new series, I was prepared to be disappointed, but gave ...

Re: Chibnall or Moffat, who was the better showrunner?

Moffat came up with better premises, but he couldn't stick a landing to save his life.

I like the toned down feel of the Chibnall era a bit more, but the problem is that whenever he tries to do grandiose stories similar to Moffat or RTD, it lands with a dull thud. (See: both of his series finales)

Re: REWATCHING NEW-WHO: Does It Stand Up to Scrutiny?

Some are worth watching, most aren’t. Sort of the reverse of the Classic Series, but anyone who thinks the Classic Series is blemish free are seriously deluding themselves. Yes, agreed. It depends on the episodes in question. I think most of the better ones still hold up. The weak ones are more emb...

I finally gave up my boycott of the Underwater Menace DVD release, since it's dirt cheap now. So I guess they can finally get around to animating it. :P

Re: Will Chibnall's Third Season be Worse?

Chibnall has said he doesn't listen to criticism, which is probably true or he would have just given up and handed over to somebody better or had Jodie regenerate into McGann He says that. Doesn't necessarily mean it's true. I mean, it does seem like he made efforts to make Series 12 more "exciting...

Re: Will Chibnall's Third Season be Worse?

A McGann mid-quel series sounds good on paper, but the quality of the writing would need to be there to support it, otherwise there's no point. That said, it's difficult to say what Chibnall will do for his third series. A common train of thought is that Series 12 was Chibnall's response to fans say...

Re: THE TIMELESS CHILD REVELATIONS: Do You Accept Them as Ca

Someone's nailed and hammered together a complete timeline for the Doctor.... It's a well put together video, but I think it shows how utterly convoluted the Doctor's timeline has become with this Timeless Child nonsense. Particularly when he goes into explaining why he's calling Hartnell's incarna...

Re: CAPTAIN JACK: Did He Make This Era Suddenly a Bit Better

I don't think he made anything worse, but given that he didn't factor into the final episode or the nonsense revelation in even the slightest way, his appearance earlier in the season seems completely gratuitous.

Re: A SHOW IN CRISIS?: What Should the BBC Do Now?

It is possible to revisit RTD's seasons with fresh eyes and find more to enjoy. I can't do that with anything really subsequent to that though and now I'm not sure I'll ever want to, sadly. RTD's tenure was maybe the most uneven in the show's history. One week you could have a fantastic example of ...

Re: Is It Jodie or Is It the Scripts?

I suspect Jodie would come across better if her character were written to be more likeable. http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/doctor-who-executive-producer-defends-series-12-from-fan-criticisms-93373.htm Strevens goes on to address the controversial Graham/Thirteen cancer scene: “Some people go, I just w...

Yikes. That's dire.

I hate to say it, but maybe the BBC should consider a new showrunner even if series 13 is already going into production.
