Thanks teleportNOW. I thought I was nerdy, but you make me look positively hip. :D
Hah! Well it's just the kind of detail that brings me that much closer to what it would have been like to watch the original broadcast. You are never really sure of these things from off-air audio alone!

Re: Dr. Who - Fury from the Deep Animation

I mean, maybe I'm just being obtuse, but I enjoy the way i can see on the telesnap reconstruction that Frazer, Debbie & Pat were on a location shoot to do the beach scene at the start, but Maggie's patio is clearly just a studio set. You just don't get that when it's all turned into a cartoon.

Re: Dr. Who - Fury from the Deep Animation

I watched episode 1 last night, but chose the telesnap recon (which includes actual footage of the Tardis landing). So much better visually and much much higher quality that Loose Cannon on Dailymotion

Re: What's Next Speculation (Evil)

Animating Marco Polo and bringing out out a 'Doctor Who Season 1' box set seems like a complete no-brainer to me. Despite Dr Who's insane random-order release schedule over the decades, normal human beings like to begin at the beginning. Given a choice of 'hmmm, what will I start with - season 1 or ...

Re: Doomwatch (1970)

I watched all the extant episodes, I really wish more of Season 3 existed, as there seems to be something very intriguing going on with that guy who was in Servalan's amazing 'I will not be President of a ruined empire!' scene in Blakes 7 Star One.

Re: Dr. Who - Fury from the Deep Animation

The Complete Kenny Everett the week before sounds more appealing. wait, what? There's more Kenny Everett coming? I've still got four episodes to go on Network's Complete Thames TV set. Episode 1 features Bryan Ferry singing a song with an eagle and the control centre ladies from Day of the Daleks! ...

Re: Doctor Who The Collection - S14

Finally watched some of the new CGI rat on Talons of Weng Chiang. As I expected, it's sh*te. It uses that cheesy 'Toy Story' style of lumpy cartoon animation, about as fluid as the CGI in Dire Straits' Money for Nothing video. So, as usual, they're just swapping on type of dodgy effect for another. ...

Well that’s saved me some money.
Well to be fair, about 60% of Triffids is shot on film, and all that 60% is tons better than the ancient DVD.... it's just that the other 40% is worse :vacumchase:

Re: The TRIFFIDS Adaptions

I mean this sentence here is just completely daft: "For the HD restoration of ‘The Day of the Triffids’, we accessed the original 24FPS film elements and, where these were unavailable, the Digibeta (50i) masters" ...it implies they thought it was ALL shot on film, but for some scenes they only had t...

Re: The TRIFFIDS Adaptions

I actually emailed BBC DVD Support to moan and ask if they'd be doing a corrected disc, and already got this rather silly reply: "Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with the team. We are very sorry you are disappointed with this release. When dealing with archive programmes from multiple ...

Re: The TRIFFIDS Adaptions

I could be wrong, but I'm seeing the name "Brendan" associated with this remaster, and can't help but wonder if it's the same balloon who made that awful 'special needs edition' if Enlightenment with all the video zoomed and cropped to widescreen and dreadful new CGI 🤔

Re: The TRIFFIDS Adaptions

Well today I got the new BluRay of David Maloney's 1981 BBC serial of Day of the Triffids... and ARRRRRGH... the people who remastered it were complete morons. Whilst the bits on film have been redigitised from the negatives, and looks an absolute treat, and the original mono sound scrubbed up very ...

And of course, Patrick Troughton. And then there's Gareth Thomas, playing a resistance leader again.

Re: Doctor Who - The Collection - Season 26

I finally finished the Season 26 boxset! The lengthy new interview with Sophie Aldred was good quality stuff. I also enjoyed the JNT biography piece. One thing about all those 11 million hours of studio rushes they include (god, are they a chore to watch!!) - Gary Downie is surley an narky git as an...
