Re: Which is Jon Pertwee's worst story?

You're all nuts because of all the Doctors there is simply no such thing as a bad Pertwee. Pretty consistent in my opinion. The clangers people mention are light years ahead of LOADS of other Who. Dinosaurs was a silly idea by those who should know better but the plot is fine as are the guest cast. ...

Re: Sorry (1981)

And yet that catchphrase entered public vocabulary and stayed there. Might not be the greatest sitcom ever made, bet then neither was The Lovers with Paula Wilcox and Richard Beckinsale, and there are still people referring to anyone called Geoffrey as "Geoffrey Bobbles Bon Bon". And actually it was...

Re: Richard Franklin's in hospital

I'll add my get well soon wishes. He was a really nice guest years ago in Sheffield, at a little pub with an upstairs function room. After the afternoon's interview etc., a small bunch of us had a couple of pints with him in the bar downstairs. Lovely day.

All the best my friend and get well soon.

Nice recreation. Got the right sound fx for the Tardis interior, but the wrong music. Needs that pop-jazz sound... Not much more a mismatch than the delightful score for Invasion Earth 2150AD.

Re: The 3 DALEK Movies vs. the 3 TV Versions: Which Are Best?

Yeah Liz, didn't you see it? A celebration special called 'The Four First Doctors'. Hartnell had to have a stand-in, Hurndall had to have a stand-in and Cushing had to have a stand-in. Bradley was ok 'cause he's still alive. I'm forgetting how many first Doctors that is now, lol! There are precedent...

Re: The 3 DALEK Movies vs. the 3 TV Versions: Which Are Best?

Must admit, Cribbins comes away as more heroic in his role for the movies, even despite the silly Robomen comedy routine. Cushing is slightly better in the second film, less 'Clive Dunn old man act', but if he'd have been a genuine tv Doctor I'd have asked him nicely to go in the Pertwee direction t...

Re: What's The Last TV Show You Watched?

Done all the but the last episode of Ratched on Netflix. Not entirely sure how good I think it is. Entertaining enough in it's own right, but seems a much more caricatured world compared to the actual film of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which it's supposed to form a prequel to. The cast are goo...

Best Who animation I've seen, together with that manga one a few years back. Wish the official stuff was remotely as impressive.

Re: Redesigning classic foes

One of the most obvious things to do with bringing back old monsters is to bring back those that were rubbish at the time, because of a lack of cash and other resources. If they were poor originally I don't see many old school fans complaining if we got decent Bandrells/Nimon/Menoptra/Chumblies. The...

Elizabeth Shaw. Should have been, to be Shaw. Sadly, she was replaced by..... Oh, I liked her replacement too... I just thought Liz was better. A shame she didn't get a better send off... or a return visit later during the third Doctor's time on Earth. I absolutely loved her replacement. My ...

OI! Liz R NOOOO! (Harry Enfield impression before anyone gets upset :)) Hands off our lovely Jo-Jo Grant! Anyway we all know it's The Rani. Lol. Ok then. For my money Verity. Got to be. On the character/cast side. Barbara Wright. Most mature of the lot. Her conversations with Hartnell in the likes o...

Re: THE TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM: Your Top 10 Choices

The first Cushing interior is just plain silly but plays into the idea that he was a silly old inventor... a junk room instead of a place where it was resting. The second almost plays into UK sci-fi Gerry Anderson styles. The best one is the original, with those variations up to the end of the Class...

Re: Hurndall or Bradley: Who's the Best Who?

"In the right hands" is right on the nose. I used to want Susan to return and answer the question of whether really was the granddaughter and if she was a Time Lady. But it's way too late. I would look on such an idea now with utter dread. What Moffatt did with the First Doctor was unforgivable. The...

I'm surprised Paul McGann did so well with only one televised story.
Yes, I thought this was highly unlikely. Unless he's done well from being around in other things in recent years. As for 'her' getting in second place maybe it's just BBC propaganda?

What no tribute to the lovely Diana Rigg? I've had the theme tune going around in my head ever since I heard the news, if that counts. https://www.heavymetal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/diana-rigg-emma-peel-10.jpg Of course it counts. Only one of the best tv themes ever. Laurie Johnson's scores ...

Might watch this again soon, with the sad passing of it's lead guest star (did an Avengers last night), even though I'm already up to Daleks in Manhattan on a New Who watch. Cracking episode as I said at the time a few pages ago.
