Re: Rate “The Timeless Children” (Part 2)

Thanks for the info, to me though this jus exasperates the failure of this whole debacle. .. I've watched who since Tom Baker but have never really delved into the extended canon so have had to look into Lungbarrow & the Cartmel Masterplan. Although, as you pointed out, this does give some context ...

Re: THE CHIBNALL ERA WRITERS: Are They Any Good?

They're a mixed bag. 01: Malorie Blackman (Rosa) I liked this episode. It felt like a lost Quantum Leap script. 02: Vinay Patel (Demons of the Punjab, Fugitive of the Judoon) Two of the better episodes of their respective seasons, though Demons is very much a superior story to Fugitive. 03: Pete McT...

Re: The Thirteenth Doctor: Do you like her?

Maybe not a good idea to give her a whole episode where she is on her own, like Capaldi was? :? :death: Actually, thinking on it, maybe that's exactly what they do need to give her. Let her prove her acting chops. Might be good for her too if she can shut up the nay sayers. I'm still not certain if...

Re: Rate “The Timeless Children” (Part 2)

I see it like this - 1.The Timeless Child eventually became The Doctor 2. The Timeless Child lived for a very very long time and had many many lives one of which was a contemporary of Rassilon & Omega known as "The Other" 3. As is established in Lungbarrow, The Other threw himself into the Looms an...

Re: The Thirteenth Doctor: Do you like her?

I was ambivalent about her in series 11, but the scene with Graham in "Can You Hear Me?" and then the finale has definitely placed me in the "no" category.

Re: YOUR OPINION: The Next Showrunner

I generally hated RTD's take on Who, but the occasional episode (usually from Moffat) kept me watching his era; when I learned RTD was leaving and Moffat, the guy behind my favourite episodes of NuWho, was taking the reigns, I hoped we'd get back to something more in keeping with the classic show. ...

Re: A SHOW IN CRISIS?: What Should the BBC Do Now?

Slyvester McCoy's CLASSIC TV show seventh Doctor regenerated into Paul McGann's Doctor...so the continuity link IS there between the classic TV show of 1963-1989 and the Paul McGann TV Movie (which Iank completely overlooks) - unlike 'noowho' where Eccleston just turned up presumably out of the loc...

Jodie on how we haven't seen the end of the revelations yet..... ‘So it’s not to say that you won’t discover something. You’re not going to be denied. Re: A SHOW IN CRISIS?: What Should the BBC Do Now?

I think decanonizing entire eras - even if they're not very good - sets a bad precedence. There have always been eras of the show that people have wanted to overlook. Way back (and probably still now) there were people who would have said forget the McCoy era, have the show pick up from after Baker ...

Re: HARTNELL: Does It Matter That He Was NEVER the 1st Docto

This is likely an unpopular opinion, but I don't feel there's any inherently obvious reason Hartnell can't be retconned out of being the first Doctor - if the story is good. Morbius (which people seem to forget was was also retcon) was a pretty good story and the pre-Hartnell incarnations were seaml...

Re: SERIES 12 SPOILERS

Last minute spoilers posted on GB by sjcuk -Nobody dies, but that doesn't mean it's all clear sailing for the Christmas special ("you will see") -The origins of the Timeless Child/Children are not explained, just the secret history of the Time Lords and Gallifrey. This is the show's official new my...

Re: Rate “The Timeless Children” (Part 2)

Chibs just proved that he’s like his NuWho showrunner predecessors and can’t write a good second part of a finale for sh*t. Good to see he’s just the same as RTD and Moff in that department. True, but I would still give RTD and Moff some credit - for (some decent) characterisation and (some decent)...

Re: Rate “The Timeless Children” (Part 2)

Not only the Police Box anomaly but how come Brendan didn't regenerate when he fell off the cliff but the Timeless Child did? Presumably because Chibs didn't want to give the game away that it was the Doctor / Time Lord. But it makes no sense. Pretty sure the explanation for the Brendan stuff was t...

Re: Rate “The Timeless Children” (Part 2)

I've seen some people say this this gives Big Finish and others a bunch of new space to play around in. Perhaps, but I question who would want to spend money on pre-Hartnell stories starring Doctors we've never seen nor heard of before and would have zero investment in. Don't Big Finish already do ...

Re: Series 12 (Season 38) - was it any good?

I'd say I enjoyed Series 12 slightly more than Series 11, but it was still pretty mediocre. Making the season arc a big, unnecessary smack to Who's already shaky continuity didn't help matters. Decent-to-Good episodes: Spyfall, Part 1 The Haunting of Villa Diodati Ascension of the Cybermen Mediocre-...

Re: Rate “The Timeless Children” (Part 2)

Unless it's enthusiastically embraced by fandom, I'd say it's almost certain that most of this episode will be walked back at some point. The Time Lords will be brought back (somehow) and if the Timeless Child stuff isn't handwaved away, it'll just be outright ignored. The main problem isn't that Ch...

Re: Rate “The Timeless Children” (Part 2)

Okay.... well, then. Honestly, it wasn't as bad as I had expected. Chibnall didn't make humans the first Time Lords, thank goodness. The story was pretty simple. Companions run around and kill Cybermen while the Doctor gets exposition dumped on her by the Master. Sacha Dhawan was pretty good again, ...

Re: The Whittaker Tardis Interior: Yay or Nay?

100 percent agree the best design in the modern series was the late Smith era/Capaldi era one. The others have all looked fairly hideous to my eyes. It is kind of funny that nu Who keeps showing us that they can make a pretty good looking classic TARDIS interor, but just choose not to use them for t...
