Re: Rate "In The Forest of the Night"

No some fans don't like it not most, looks a pretty even split to me. Looking above., 66 people thought this episode deseverved a 5 or below rating while 81 thought it should have a 6 to 10 rating. There is a diffrence between opinion and fact dear boy ;) And I demand to know now why those 81 peopl...

Re: Rate "In The Forest of the Night"

As for "In the Forest of the Night": 6/10 from me. The episode was very well made and the performances (yes, even the kids) were good, but I felt the story was paper thin and the ending was a lot of nonsense. I do feel that the science matters to an extent, especially when the "science" feels like i...

Re: Rate "In The Forest of the Night"

However bad this sometimes is we don't want to go back to RTD. I couldn't watch those episodes, I'd feel insulted at the end of them. Moffat's stuff is, as a whole, better, although a lot of the problems are just general to newWho itself. Capaldi is the one saving this series for me at the moment (...

Re: Rate "Flatline"

It takes all sorts, series 2 of new-Who was very very weak to my eyes and there aren't really any episodes from it I ever feel like revisiting. I also think, in difference to Mr F, that seasons 25/6 were one of the creative high-points of the entire show, precisely because they were free from the s...

Re: Rate "Flatline"

Not one episode has dipped below the lowest final rated story of new who, which is the Satan Pit with 6.0 Million. Pity. That two-parter was one of my favourite stories of new Who. Then again, I thought "The Girl Who Waited" was a brilliant classic as well. I guess I'm not very in step with other v...

Re: Rate "Flatline"

But I also remember "Doctorwho" on GB saying a year ago that Doctor Who would be rested after S9 no matter what (to make way for the movie franchise) Wasn't Doctor Who basically rested the past two years, with only half a series plus a couple specials in both 2012 and 2013? Also, I don't think Capa...

Re: Rate "Flatline"

8/10 a second week in a row from me. I think Mathieson has proven he should be in regular rotation on the writing staff. The guy knows how to write a genuinely suspenseful script with memorable characters within the confines of the 45 minute format. That ain't an easy task, as we've seen a number of...

Re: Rate "Mummy on the Orient Express"

I think that might be the best episode of the series so far, IMO. Didn't feel too rushed by the 45 minute format. They made the Doctor/Clara drama feel like it came naturally as a result of the story rather than feeling tacked on to the story like last week (or "supplant the story" would be more acc...

Now that is an excellent idea! Shame it wasn't written that way.
Of course, then we'd probably all be discussing whether or not it's a secret message that Tenth Planet 4 was recovered.

Re: Rate "Kill The Moon"

Kill the Moon was the proverbial game of two halves. It started off really well, with plenty of tension and genuinely scary moments, and I was thinking it was shaping up to be the best episode of the series so far. But then there was the revelation that (in spite of decades of scientific research t...

Re: Rate "Kill The Moon"

It was ok. The scares were creepy. I still have issues with Capaldis Doctor. His actions are totally at odds with what his last 3 incarnations would do. Plus the kids in the house don't really like him. At All. I read that the die hards are enjoying this take, but then the 40 something fans approve...

Re: Rate "Kill The Moon"

I was feeling like it was a 7 after I finished watching it, but now that I've thought about it for a bit, I'm thinking that it might be closer to a 6. I generally agree with people who are saying the first 1/3 of the episode has a pretty good, creepy atmosphere. I think I might be one of the only pe...

Re: Rate "The Caretaker"

The problem with that is that we have all been watching Dr Who for 50 odd years and we know the Doctor ISN'T an "officer" and that instead this is just some cr*p made up by Moffat last week, and so no matter what he "shows" us in the episode, I will just see a rather unconvincing plastic spider rob...

Re: Rate "The Caretaker"

I suspect that there's a fear that more two-parters will affect the ratings, but generally, I agree. Either that, or actually make each series more of a serial. I think Moffat tried to go more in that direction with series 6, but he seemed to chicken out of making it completely serialized and we en...

Re: Rate "The Caretaker"

I really think the show needs more two parters, particularly if they want to do these character development pieces. It does seem that the storytelling is being compromised somewhat. Simplicity seems to be the order of the day, which is unusual for SM as he has in the past been very interested in co...

Re: Rate "The Caretaker"

I think a 4 or 5 is fair enough. Arguably the weakest episode of this series so far, IMO. The episode was basically a romantic comedy (which, admittedly, is a genre I don't like in general) and while the comedy was mostly decent (Capaldi's comedic timing is great), this isn't the type of story I wat...

Re: Rate "Time Heist"

The episode was maybe slightly above average, IMO. "Time-Heist" has a very interesting concept: A Doctor Who version of a heist movie. The main problem for me is that the 45-minute format didn't allow any time for the most important aspects of a heist movie to be played out and the result is that I ...
