Those hideous "Fatleks" or whatever folk nicknamed them, Smith twirling around waving Jammie Dodgers about, Spitfires in space and all that... yeah, wasn't very keen on this episode.

By far the worst episode of series 5. Even the regulars lack their usual sparkle, with Smith stitched up written like Tensquee and Amy written as entirely generic (that bit where the Doctor sods off in the TARDIS and Amy doesn't react at all ticks me off big time, given the last two times he did that it took him years to come back for her!).
(Doctor Who) has been hijacked and redefined as a lucrative modern franchise. They've literally taken a square peg and painfully made it fit a round hole by taking enormous liberties with much of its fundamental essence. There's no turning back now.

It looks in hindsight to have been a cold blooded attempt to establish a Terry Nation style market stall - each new Doctor having its catchphrases, uniform / costume, "new" versions of the same stale old monsters and a few other toy friendly items such as the Spitfails and the least convincing version of Winston Churchill ever screened.

It exploded on the runway prior to takeoff, but Moffism attempted the same "paradigm" commercial approach again a few times.

All at the expense of minor technical aspects no one cares about, like story, plot, dialogue and common sense.

The TARDIS takes The Doctor and Amy to war-torn Britain in the middle of World War Two. Not only do they meet Winston Churchill himself, but the Doctor comes face to face once again with his greatest enemy of all.

As much as I love Series 5, this was s**t of the highest order. It felt like an leftover from the RTD era and was just a childish dumbed down remake of Power. The paradigm Dalek designs were f***ing awful and such a pisser since with the WW2 ''Ironside'' Daleks were the best design of the new bunch so far. This, along with the Silurian two parter showed that the series was not exactly out of the woods of RTD's era.
